Haunted Faire Guest Artist Advent

A selection of Haunted Faire themed Lythians have arrived! These guest artist-designed Lythians will be made available on the day shown on top of their silhouette.

October 14th through October 30th - Designs will be posted according to the number shown in the preview, at 17:00:00 site time. They will be available for varied sale methods on their own listings. (Some days may contain a bonus companion design!)

Flapping Kiklet Update

Flapping Kiklet has been updated to version 1.7.0.0. This update includes:

- Full graphical overhaul.
- The addition of background music ("The Vine", licensed under CC BY 4.0) (toggleable via mute button).
- Art updates to game icon and Dangerous Vine Sticker.
- More fullscreen adjustments.
If any of these updates do not immediately display, please try clearing your browser cache (Ctrl+F5 or similar).

In addition to this update, a new setting has been added to Layout Settings, as follows:

Automatically mute music/sounds?
(If on, arcade games that have music will always start in a muted state, but music/sound may be toggled back on while in the game.)

Other Updates

- Daily Tasks page updated to include various other daily, or semi-daily activities.

- Fixed an issue with the Gotta Capture 'em All achievement wherein captures were not being counted properly.
A button to "Fix Capture Achievements" has been temporarily added to the bottom of the Companion Captures page. Either clicking this button or successfully capturing another companion should award any missing levels of this achievement.

- Added wiki guide on how to avoid some forms of cultural appropriation when making and submitting characters. Going forward, we will be strictly following these guidelines when approving character submissions as well.

- Added "Nunito" (Lythbound's "default" font) to the text editor font list. May require clearing your browser cache (Ctrl+F5 or similar) to view.

Our Dragon Wings have been given a reshade to better match the shading found on our pumas and other evolutions.

If you are having trouble seeing the changes, here are some steps you can take:


- Reset your pumas image by clicking their name on their profile page.

- Hard refresh (ctrl + f5, or sometimes Ctrl + Shift + R, You may need to look up how to do this on your device.)

- Clear your cache. (Usually found in tools or preferences, alongside something like browsing data or cookies. You do not need to clear cookies, just your image/data cache!)



If this change has severely impacted one of your custom pumas with dragon wings, let an admin know via PM and we are happy to adjust it or find another solution for you!



Please note that the evolution markings for Dragon Wings may be a little bit out of the lines/edges right now.

This is being worked on and should be fixed over the course of the next few days!

Quick, Fast! Like the speed of light! What is your weather like where you are? Here in NC, it's sunny - but very chilly. It was 45 degrees when I looked this morning. All decked out in my little devil costume, I went out the door and down the sidewalk.
When out of nowhere I happened upon this glowing goo trail. Curiosity got the best of me, so I just HAD to follow it!

It was getting kind of creeeeeeeepy, as I heard noises that made me tremble to the bones. However, I JUST had to keep going, even though the area was getting very heavily treed. I crept deeper into the woods, when I recalled an old town myth of a hidden area that all the undead gathered at. Even knowing that, I still NEEDED to see what the noise was and why the goo trail was there!



I very carefully, though even a bit hesitant, kept walking, when the goo trail....just stopped! I looked around, it was dark and I was scared to DEATH!..The noises got LOUDER, I wanted to run, but couldn't.

A tiny light appeared a short ways in front of me, so I slowly walked up to it and that is when I SEEN it!.........

It was an extremely frightful and paralyzing sight!
It was Moon_born's Pumpkin Patch!

I looked fast and then run swiftly home before anyone or thing could see me!

The temperatures are dropping, the days are getting shorter, and the smell of crisp leaves fills the air. That can only mean one thing -- Phantasmoire season has begun! There are a lot of fun things on the way, so buckle up!



Today, Phantasmoire's haunting activity will commence. Users with at least one Phantasmoire Coloured Pet can equip them with a Haunting Treat Bag. Then, you can visit other Users' doorsteps to get some free treats. This means you can also start stocking your own doorstep. Consider stopping by Sugar Rush, Affogato, or the Glacial Grocer to pick up some food. Once you have some goodies you can visit your profile and click the Add food to Doorstep link. Haunters like sweets, savory, and all other foods equally!



Where can you get a Haunting Treat Bag, you might be wondering? You can find them randomly restocking at all Shops (except for Port Rakor and the Snow Jar Igloo) until the end of October. So keep an eye out for those if you want to get in on the fun!



Don't have a Phantasmoire Pet? Don't fret -- as always, the generous Beauty King is offering to morph one of every User's Pets for free. So even if you can't get your hands on a Phantasmoire Snow Jar, you can still take your Pet on a Haunting trip.



Just like last year, we'll also be offering trophies for Users who stock an impressive amount of food on their doorsteps. As you stock more food, your Trophy will upgrade to a higher ranking. This Trophy will be cumulative throughout the years.

We take another step forward in our ongoing efforts to refactor aging portions of Flight Rising's codebase. As of this posting, the Clan Profile has joined other features in being converted.

Another Big Step

As of today's update, the refactored version of the Clan Profile is now live, including its child pages such as the Friends List, Friend Requests, and Recent Activity. With this deployment, the light at the end of the refactor tunnel is very, very bright. While this does not signal the end of technical optimizations and improvements to Flight Rising¢we'll always strive to keep the website in prime shape with further tweaks, revamps, and fixes)¢today's update is a significant milestone that allows us to place more development emphasis on the future of the game, rather than retreading ground we've already walked.


Refactored? Revamped? ...Refreshed!

As we've mentioned a few times in the past year, we flexed our engineering focus in 2022 to finish out as many of our pending refactor projects by developing direct ports ("one-to-one / 1:1") of the remaining features, rather than elongating the process by revamping them at the same time. That is still the direction we're taking. However, in the case of Clan Profile, we found that there was an opportunity to also refresh the visuals without much extra effort. All of the same functionality exists¢nothing new added, nothing removed except birthdates for privacy reasons¢but we wanted to make sure that we were polishing the Clan Profile so that it was cohesive with our current site style guide (buttons, text formatting, etc).

So that means you may notice a few things look a bit different:

• We have vertically expanded the clan info container. Many of you have put a lot of effort into this area, so we thought it would be nice for you to show more of that off before scrolling is necessary.
• Your current forum vista now displays around your avatar. Forum vistas are cool and represent a lot about your clan's personality, so we decided to put it on the profile as well.
• Recent Activity has been moved to the right column. We felt that it made a bit more sense for your clan's activity feed to exist in the same column as your recent forum posts. This enabled us to vertically expand the clan info panel, but it also lent itself to seeing a few more of your friends' comments before the page starts scrolling.
• New/empty profiles do a better job of introducing players to various features of the page. We're always looking for more ways to help new players interact with everything Flight Rising offers, so if you visit your own (or another player's) profile and there is no clan info, an image and text blurb indicate that it can be edited. If there are no friends, comments, forum posts, or activity, subtle placeholder shapes indicate how those portions of the page would look with information in them.

We still have plans to revamp the Clan Profile (continued visual improvements, additional features and quality of life improvements, brand new activities and options), but didn't want to pass up the chance to level-up the visuals of the feature, especially because it didn't require us to make any real major changes or shifts to how it works.

What's Next?

As of this moment, our team is making its first steps into refactoring nests and dragon breeding. As you may have already guessed, the breeding system is the backbone of Flight Rising, so we held off on its refactor until we were nearer to the end and after we had cleared a lot of other hurdles first. Tackling a refactor of breeding is going to be extremely challenging because the systems involved are very complex and there's a lot of risk involved with converting it to the new code standards.

Aside from the breeding system, there are a smattering of smaller, less visible pieces and loose ends to tie up, but we are almost there. Rest assured: we will make sure we take utmost care and work closely together to pull this final big chunk over the finish line!
